Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Oct 1 inaugurated the ‘Advanced Artillery Manufacturing Facility’ of the Kalyani group in Pune. This state-of-the-art plant allows manufacturing of complete ordnance including barrels, breech, muzzle brake for artillery systems and Tanks like the T-72, T-90 and ARJUN.
“Manufacturing of Artillery guns is a highly complex science which involves cross disciplinary architecture, robust design and engineering capability and intensive knowledge of complex materials, with a solid foundation in metallurgy which forms the backbone of this capability,” said B.N. Kalyani, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Forge.
“The Kalyani group, over the last few years using its strong platform of metallurgical knowledge, design & engineering capability and manufacturing prowess, has invested heavily to create a manufacturing eco system for Artillery Systems. We are now a one stop solution when it comes to Artillery Manufacturing. Within the combined strength of various Kalyani Group companies, we have the most modern and sophisticated infrastructure required for manufacturing of guns in the country,” he added.
