One militant killed in encounter with security forces in Budgam; two civilians also killed

A militant was killed in an encounter with the security forces in Chadoora area of Budgam district of central Kashmir today. And two civilians were killed and several others were injured during protests near the encounter site.

This year, at different encounter sites, the government forces have killed around 30 militants and seven civilians including a seven-year-old girl. Meanwhile, the Hurriyat Conference has called for a strike on Thursday.

On Tuesday morning the encounter started, when a joint team of 53 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operations Group of police and CRPF started cordon and search operation in Durbagh village, around 20 kms from Srinagar. The exchange of fire continued till afternoon. Read More…
