SpiceJet flags off daily direct flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Male

SpiceJet, one of the country’s low-cost carrier, today launched its daily direct flight services from Thiruvananthapuram to Male with traditional flag-off and lamp-lighting ceremonies at the Trivandrum International Airport (TRV), Kerala. With the new service, SpiceJet has introduced a daily flight from Bengaluru to Male via Thiruvananthapuram with the least connecting time.

The flag-off ceremony was graced by Airport Director, Mr. George G Tharakan,  Mr. Binoy Jacob (AI-SATS Vice President), Mr. Vijay Bhushan (AOC Chairman), Mr. S Sundar (AAI DGM OPS) and SpiceJet officials.

The launch was initiated with the customary lamp lighting ceremony followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the formal announcement of the launch of the new flight service. The first passenger was welcomed by Mr. Mr. George G Tharakan and the ceremony finally came to a conclusion with the flagging-off the flight SG 93 at 12.25 pm, from the Trivandrum International Airport, Kerala.

In line with the aviation tradition to mark key milestones, the homecoming journey of SpiceJet’s Bombardier Q400 – SG 94 deployed on the Male – Thiruvananthapuram route was greeted with a grand water cannon salute. The service initiates a new chapter in SpiceJet’s international connectivity scheme.

Besides Male (Maldives) SpiceJet also offers connectivity to six other international destinations among – Dubai, Bangkok, Colombo, Kabul, Dhaka, and Muscat.
