The ministry of defence has decided to step up the Indian Navy’s presence in Goa based on a development plan for the next five years, sources in the ministry said.

The government today gave the go ahead to the IAF to purchase one more C17 heavy transport aircraft and also gave the nod to the Coast Guard’s proposal to acquire six multi-mission maritime aircraft for Rs 5,500 crore.
The Andaman and Nicobar Command, the only tri-service operational Command of the Indian Armed Forces, celebrated its 16th raising day on Oct 8th, 2016. The Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command, Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, reviewed the parade at INS UTKROSH and awarded Unit Citations to five Units for their outstanding performance in the last one year.
The high speed interceptor boats deployed by the Indian Coast Guard for intercepting the Pakistani boat and capturing a dozen odd crew members, were built by Larsen and Toubro Limited at its Hazira shipyard. L&T has already delivered 28 interceptor boats and these are put in operations by the ICG. Order for 54 interceptor boats was placed by ICG on the company. The Pakistani boat along with 9 crew members was caught by ICG off the Gujarat coast on October 2nd.
On 17 September 2016 morning, a fishing vessel Datta Sai suffered damage due to bad weather and sank about 30 autical Miles from Mumbai. The fishing vessel had 17 crew members on board.
