MoD’s Defence Acquisition Council under RM Manohar Parrikar Clears Defence Proposals For Rs 82,000 cr

Out of the Rs 82,000 crore of proposal approved, the DAC headed by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has for the first time cleared two schemes worth Rs 53,000 crore under the Indigenous Design Development and Manufacturing (IDDM) category. This includes AON for 83 Light Combat Aircrafts (LCAs) Tejas at a cost of Rs 50,025 crore for the Indian Air Force (IAF) and another AON for 15 Light Combat Helicopters (LCHs) including 10 for the IAF and 5 for the Indian Army at a cost of Rs 2911 crores.

Parrikar Headed DAC Clears Defence Proposals for Rs. 1900 crore

In an important decision that comes within 10 days of the tragic terror attack on the army camp at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday gave its approval to defence proposals worth Rs 1900 crore. This includes a go ahead on the procurement of Rs 330 crore worth of electronic warfare systems for Jammu and Kashmir. Equipment like jammers and other security systems are being procured for army to deal with low intensity conflict in the J&K region.
