5 Naval Ships And 21 Warplanes From China Were Circling Taiwan

- The PLA's Eastern Theater Command (ETC), which is in charge of the area that encompasses the Taiwan Strait, has conducted naval and air force manoeuvres near Taiwan as a show of force.
- United States is preparing to move in the upcoming weeks and months to oppose China's military and economic activity near Taiwan in light of the heightened tensions in the Taiwan Strait.
With eight jets that crossed the Taiwan Strait median line, Taiwan was able to follow 21 warplanes and five naval ships that were coming from China around the country.
By Friday at 5 p.m., the Taiwanese Ministry of National Defense claimed to have located 17 Chinese military planes and five ships throughout the island.
Eight of the 17 jets of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) crossed the median line across the Taiwan Strait, according to the military. The aircraft consisted of two Sukhoi Su-30 fighters, two Shenyang J-11 jets, and four Xi’an JH-7 fighter-bombers.
The two J-11 aircraft crossed the median line at its southern end, while the JH-7 and the Su-30 jets did likewise at its northern end.
According to the ministry, it assigned the CAP, Navy ships, and air defence missile systems to watch and react to Chinese activity, according to Taiwan News.
Since Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the US House, visited the autonomous island, China has upped its hysterical behaviour in the Taiwan Strait.
The military tracked 51 Chinese warplanes over the Taiwan Strait the day before, as well as a Chinese guided-missile ship close to an area where Taiwan was conducting missile tests.
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) posted footage of the Penghu islands on social media, implying that its jets were close to Taiwan, which heightened tensions on Sunday as another US congressional delegation visited Taiwan.
Beijing utilises “cognitive warfare,” according to Tung Pei-lun, vice chief of staff for operations for the Taiwanese Air Force, who disputed that recent drills in the Taiwan Strait came close to Penghu. Following Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taipei earlier this month, the PLA’s Eastern Theater Command (ETC), which is in charge of the area that encompasses the Taiwan Strait, has conducted naval and air force manoeuvres near Taiwan as a show of force.
The United States is preparing to move in the upcoming weeks and months to oppose China’s military and economic activity near Taiwan in light of the heightened tensions in the Taiwan Strait.
This month’s visit by Pelosi to Taiwan led to an increase in regional tension. Since the US delegation’s visit, Beijing has begun extensive military drills near the island, including live-fire drills and military aircraft overflights that are quite close to Taiwan’s airspace.
In response to Beijing’s persistent efforts to disrupt the status quo, the US will continue to take actions that are firm but also measured to protect peace and stability, according to State Department spokesperson Ned Price.
Price stated during a press briefing that “these steps across a range of areas will emerge over the coming weeks and months because we know that this challenge is a long-term.”
