At least eight IndiGo flights from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) were cancelled on Saturday, leaving scores of passengers in the lurch. The affected sectors include Guwahati, Raipur, Bengaluru, Goa, Pune, Chennai and Kolkata, among others.
Within the two states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, services to destinations like Tirupati, Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam took a hit because of the disruption. The cancellations apart, certain sectors such as Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bhopal and New Delhi had also reported delays of two hours or more.
While repeated efforts to reach out to officials of the low-cost carrier failed to yield any result, sources from the aviation sector said the disruptions were a result of an “operational issue”. Some even attributed it to the unavailability of sufficient crew. Read more
