Afghan Game: Iran’s offer to use its influence over Taliban for India can be useful

In an interesting development, Iran has admitted to having influence over the Taliban and has offered to use it on India’s behalf. Exemplifying this influence is a recent meeting between an Iranian delegation and the Taliban in Tehran.

This assumes significance in light of the proposed US plan to withdraw around half of its more than 14,000 troops in Afghanistan. And should that plan come to fruition, there will be a good chance that the Taliban will return to power in some form in Kabul.
