Alert sounded along coast for I-Day celebrations

A high alert has been sounded in the State, particularly along the coast, over the possible terror attacks during Independence Day celebrations. Along with civil police, the Army and Navy personnel have been asked to be vigilant as terror groups may resort to ‘Samudri Jihad’.

With the Centre scrapping Articles 370 and 35A in Jammu and Kashmir, a few terrorist groups threatened to create violence in India. Following the threats, intelligence sleuths issued an alert across the country. The police have been asked to be alert at the parade grounds, bus and railway stations, cinemas, malls and other public places.

Andhra Pradesh has 974 km of coastline, in which about 80 mandals and 28,000 sea bed villages are situated. The Navy, Marine and the local police were put on high alert in the wake of the warnings from the terrorist groups. Read More
