Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been granted permission to train with Territorial Army’s 106 Infantry Battalion – one of the two Territorial Army’s parachute regiments. The former Indian captain was handed the honorary rank of a Lieutenant Colonel in 2011 and since then had undergone training only once, for two weeks with the elite Para unit – attached to the parachute regiment – in 2015.
However, this time, Dhoni will undertake training for two months. He is expected to train with his regiment in Jammu and Kashmir but will not participate in any active operation. According to reports, he had written to the Army authorities wanting to spend two months with the force.
