Army officer killed while rescuing jawan

During an Armyexercise in Karanpur area in Ganganagar district, a young officer died while trying to save a drowning jawan, police said on Friday. While the jawan is said to be serious and is undergoing treatment at a local hospital, Police have kept the body of the 24-year-old Lieutenant-rank officer at the Karanpur mortuary.

The Army has ordered probe into the matter. Lt Anurag Shukla died while rescuing drowning men during an Army exercise. He was a resident of Ranchi, Jharkhand. Soldier Shrawanjeet Singh, a resident of Bagar in Punjab is undergoing treatment.
