Army Team Reaches Jaisalmer To Probe Irregularities In Ammunition Scrap

After news appearing in TOI, a high level team of Indian army has reached Jaisalmer on Wednesday and started investigation from different angles in case of authorised contractors illegally getting ammunition without crushed as scrap from Pokharan field firing range. The team is aksocollecting details in the incident occurred in January at Faridabad in Haryana where army contractor had sent scarp to factory for melting in which explosion took place and two persons had died. Later crime branch of Haryana police arrested two scrap contractors.

It is to be mentioned that on Tuesday you has published a news that large number of ammunition without being scrapped was brought out from the range and despite announcing court of inquiry the team did not reach even after 7-8 days and did not start the investigation.

According to high level army sources large number of empty ammunition was brought out from the range without being crushed and connivance of contractor and army personnel is suspected or there could be carelessness on the part of army personnel because generally as per process ammunition is handed over to contractor after scrap but for quite some time ammunition was being given without crushing. Read More
