ATS nabs 8 youths in Maharashtra for ‘IS links’


The state anti-terrorism squad (ATS) arrested eight youths, suspected to have been radicalised and aligned to the ideology of the IS, in Aurangabad and Mumbra in Thane early on Wednesday. A minor boy, who was detained on Tuesday with four of the youths in Aurangabad, was sent to an observation home.

The youths have been charged with criminal conspiracy and also under stringent sections of UAPA and Maharashtra Police Act. The four Aurangabad youths were produced before a special court of district judge K R Choudhari and remanded in 14 days’ ATS custody.

The minor was produced before the child welfare committee before being sent to the observation home. The medical tests of all five was held at 1.30am. Read More
