BSF Pushed Away A Pakistani Drone In Punjab; Threat Still Looms Over Jammu And Kashmir

In the Ajnala region of Punjab’s Amritsar on August 9, the Border Security Force (BSF) prevented a Pakistani drone from crossing into Indian territory along the Indo-Pakistan International Border. The drone was forced back by the BSF after being within the Indian Territory for more than six minutes.

Senior Official privy to the development said, “At around 10.55 PM, humming side of the drone was heard by alert troop deployed in forwarding area and 23 rounds were fired at it after which it went back to the Pakistani side. Soon after the incident, QRT parties were sent to the area and massive searches were launched in the area with help of local Police.”

In another occurrence, residents of Kathua’s Rajbagh’s Chadwal neighbourhood reported to police that they had also heard a drone’s humming sound during the night hours; as a result, the Jammu and Kashmir Police alerted all the Nakas and searches were conducted.

The Jammu Police Station of NIA has filed the case under IPC Sections 121, 121(A), 122, and UAPA Sections 16, 18, and 20. It is important to note that NIA is already looking into a case involving a different drone that the BSF shot down in 2020.
