Kumaraguru Institutions hosted the Coimbatore Defence Conclave-2022 to discuss ways to strengthen the district’s defence industries. Experts discussed the’requirements, opportunities, and industry capabilities for defence indigenisation.’
The event also marked the seventh anniversary of former President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam’s death. In addition, the college has launched a new MTech postgraduate programme in defence technology. A regional centre of the Aerospace Industry Development Association of Tamil Nadu (AIDAT) was also inaugurated in Coimbatore.
Dr S Venugopal, former director of Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), and Dr S Christopher, chairman of AIDAT and former chairman of DRDO, stated that there are numerous requirements and opportunities in the defence sector that should be capitalised on.

TIDCO (Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation) additional secretary and project director B Krishnamoorthy stated that AIDAT will connect all defence industries in Tamil Nadu.
