Consider Military Spending As An Investment: Army Chief Naravane

Chief of Army Staff General MM Naravane remarked on Wednesday at the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) in Gandhinagar that military spending should be seen as an investment rather than a drain on the economy.
“A stable and peaceful environment is required for a country to develop. Only if you have a powerful armed army to safeguard your borders will this happen. As a result, whenever we discuss our military forces and the money spent on them, we should think of it as an investment. “It’s an investment with a decent return, and it shouldn’t be considered as a drain on the economy,” Naravane added.
The Chief of Army Staff was speaking after introducing a book at Lavad University called Fifty Years of the 1971 War: Accounts from Veterans. The book also includes a message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is a compilation of numerous combat veterans’ accounts compiled by RRU.
“You should see how much the economy suffers during a crisis.” The influence of a conflict or instability in the region on the stock markets can be witnessed at any time. “You can only survive such shocks if the country’s armed forces are powerful,” Naravane remarked in his brief speech.
Which includes the armed forces, received Rs 5.38 lakh crore in this year’s budget, about a quarter less than its projected demand of more than Rs 7 lakh crore.
However, the Army chief stated that the nation’s security is dependent not just on its military forces, but also on its citizens. “Citizens of the country play an important role as well.
Each of us is accountable for our country’s security and well-being… We may achieve this by becoming excellent citizens and refraining from spreading rumours on WhatsApp. A little rumour peddling can lead to rioting. Buses catch fire. Whose loss is it, exactly? “It’s a national tragedy,” he remarked.
The first two women officers accepted into the Indian Army’s aviation wing will graduate in July 2022, according to the Indian Army’s chief. “We now have a significant number of female officers in the Army… “More and more opportunities for women to join the armed forces are being created,” he stated.
