CRPF men retaliated bravely to fidayeen attack: CRPF to MHA

A day after the deadly fidayeen attack, which killed 5 CRPF personel, the Director General (DG) CRPF RR Bhatnagar briefed Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba about the same. Sources said DG briefed the Home Secretary by stating that Crpf men of 116 Battalion CRPF had bravely retaliated to fidayeen attacker.

At least 14 personnel of 116 Battalion were deployed on law and order duty in Chee Gali in Ananatnag when a lone fidayeen opened fire from AK 47, spraying bullets on the men on guard. Five CRPF men were martyred and three received gun shot wounds.

The fidayeen also used 4-5 hand grenades to target the CRPF troopers. Top sources said that one of their martyred troopers killed the fidayeen in what was seen as a strong retaliation after the surprise attack. Read More
