Def Acquisition Council Reviews Procurement Of Military

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, today reviewed the procurement of a number of key military platforms.

Sources said the DAC, the defence ministrys highest decision making body on procurement, deliberated on a number of proposals on acquisition of equipment and military hardware for the three services.

However, there were no official details about the deliberations at the meeting.

The government is likely to soon start the process for procurement of a fleet of single engine fighter aircraft for the Indian Air Force.

It is also in the process of signing a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for supply of 83 Tejas light combat aircraft to the Indian Air Force.
