Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Visits Sir Creek In Kutch

Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday visited the Sir Creek area of Kutch. Sitharaman interacted with army, air force, border security force and coast guard officials.

“She emphasized on the security in the region because of its strategic location. She also raised concerned about rising number of intrusion of Pakistani fishermen in the area. Sir Creek, which also includes Haraminala is important because of its strategic location for the Southern Command,” added a defense official. In last one week about 21 Pakistani fishing boats and five Pakistani fishermen were apprehended from Haraminala.Earlier defence minister visited the golden Katar division in Ahmedabad on Sunday and Mondya. “She was received by chief of army staff General Bipin Rawat and Lieutenant General PM Hariz of Southern Command,” added defence official.
