Firing At SSB Camp Near Jawahar Tunnel Killed One Personnel, Injured Another: J-K Police

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday confirmed that the firing incident outside the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) post near the Jawahar Tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir killed one trooper and injured another.

“Last evening, two SSB personnel were injured, when terrorists fired upon them in the Banihal area of district Ramban. One of them later on succumbed to injuries, while another is under treatment,” the police said, in a press release.

“The terrorists also snatched two weapons – one INSAS and one AR 41. During the preliminary investigation, it has come to the fore that the terrorists have used a pistol as cartridge cases of fired ammunition have been found,” the release added.

One SSB Head Constable lost his life in the attack and another Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) was admitted to the Srinagar hospital after sustaining injuries, on Wednesday.

The police also said that they recovered two mobile phones in a bag near the site of the incident. Read More…
