First German Air Defence Systems Have Arrived In Ukraine

- The German government and the Norwegian Ministry of Defence discovered a manufacturer capable of producing additional ammunition.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov announced that the first German Gepard air defence systems had arrived in the war-torn country.
“Today marks the official arrival of the first three Gepards. “These are anti-aircraft systems for which we have received tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition,” the Minister said on Monday, according to Ukrayinska Pravda.
“We’re still waiting on the first 15 Gepards.” Today, three arrived in Ukraine. They are already at the disposal of Ukraine’s Armed Forces,” he added.
Germany announced earlier this month an official list of weapons it planned to send to Ukraine, including 30 Gepard air defence systems.
Previously, the supply of ammunition for Gepard was regarded as a problem, as only slightly less than 60,000 35 mm shells were available.
After several weeks of searching, the German government and the Norwegian Ministry of Defence discovered a manufacturer capable of producing additional ammunition.
The manufacturer previously trained Ukrainian soldiers in Germany on how to use the systems.
