Government plans big events to mark the first anniversary of Surgical Strikes

The Narendra Modi Government as well as the ruling BJP is planning a series of events to mark the first anniversary of the September 29 Surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army that changed the relations between the two nuclear neighbours for a long time to come.

The first such event would be led by Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat himself, who will release a book titled “India’s Most Fearless”, which narrates the stories of those daredevil commandos of the Special Forces who crossed the LoC on the intervening nights of September 28 and 29, crawled their way to designated targets and destroyed the launch pads with pinpointed precision.

Former Army Chief Dalbir Singh would also be there when the book, co-authored by two young defence correspondents Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, will be launched.

Another event is lined up on September 29, again in form of book release, where Vice President M Venkaiah Nuidu will lead the nation in celebrating the completion of one year of the cross border action that boosted the moral of Indians, who were reeling under the pain inflicted by Pakistan backed terrorists, who had attacked the Uri military base ten days before the Surgical Strikes.

The book titled “Securing India: The Modi Way”, written by seasoned defence reporter Nitin Gokhle also gives a sneak peek into what happened before, during and after the Surgical Strikes and its geopolitical implications.

The anniversary of India’s surgical strikes comes at time when Pakistan is completely cornered internationally on the issue of terrorism with Trump Administration openly declaring it a country which harbours, supports and uses terrorists against its neighbours.

Pakistan also faced a stinging attack on the forum of United Nation General Assembly where External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj blasted Islamabad for nurturing terrorist’s factories which turned the land of pure into “Terroristan”, a term officially used by New Delhi.

The September 29 Surgical Strikes has visibly yielded its desired results with moral of the Pakistani backed terror groups going all time low.

In the past 12 months after the cross border action, the situation in the Kashmir Valley has seen a dramatic fall in the militant activities. In the same period, Security Forces have gained an upper hand with series of successful counter terrorist operation saw the elimination of many of the hardcore terrorists.
