Gunfights Erupt

Security forces were fighting militants in south Kashmir’s Pulwama and Kulgam districts since early Tuesday, officials said, hours after two militants were killed in an encounter in north Kashmir’s Handwara.

Police officials said that the gun battle began in Laan Tral of Pulwama after security forces reached the area following a tip-off about the presence of militants.

“The police, army and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) are on the job,” said a police spokesperson.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Nowbug Kund area of Kulgam. Read More…
