Huge Jump in Allowances for Armed Forces – Details here

A soldier’s life isn’t an easy one, even in peacetime and particularly, in this age of terrorism. Life on the line of control isn’t easy either with Pakistan firing often enough. As part of the recognition that is due, the government has doubled the allowance for officers and men serving in the Siachen Glacier, the world’s highest battlefield, and also, sharply increased the submarine allowance for naval personnel. And as additional encouragement, there is an increase in the rum allowance.

The Siachen allowance is currently at Rs 21,000 per month for officers and Rs 14,000 for junior commissioned officers and men. This is going up to Rs 42,500 for officers and Rs 30,000 for JCOs and men.

The submarine allowance was a maximum of Rs 21,000 per month depending on the rank but it could also be Rs 13,500. Now, all submariner officers will be paid a flat Rs 25,000 per month. Sailors will also get a big rise: they will be paid a flat amount of Rs 17,500. Read More…
