  • The terrorists opened fire on our party when the search operation began," he told the news agency.
  • "Neutralizing Adil Parray is a matter of triumph for the police," the senior police officer said, adding, "100 terrorists have been slain in J-K so far this year."

Since the beginning of this year, security forces have killed 100 terrorists in Kashmir during counter-insurgency operations, according to sources quoted by PTI in Srinagar on Monday. “Security forces have killed 100 terrorists in Kashmir since the beginning of this year, including 29 foreigners,” sources told the news agency.

Officials said that this was more than double the number of terrorists killed in the same period the previous year.

“In the first five months and 12 days of last year, fifty terrorists, including one foreigner, were slain in counter-terrorism operations,” officials claimed.

This year, the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) took the brunt of the attacks, losing 63 of its members.

Officials stated 63 of the terrorists killed in clashes were members of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group, while 24 others were linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group.

Vijay Kumar, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Kashmir, expressed similar thoughts earlier on Sunday, saying that up to 100 terrorists have been killed in the region this year, according to ANI.

“An encounter between terrorists and a small squad of Srinagar Police began in the Kreesbal Palpora Sangam region of Srinagar. The terrorists opened fire on our party when the search operation began,” he told the news agency.

Kumar claimed that Adil Parray, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, was involved in the assassination of two Jammu and Kashmir police officers in the region.

“Adil Parray was killed at the onset of the fight. Adil Parray of Ganderbal, a LeT terrorist who was involved in the death of two JKP officers, Gh Hassan Dar in Sangam and Saifulla Qadri in Anchar Soura, as well as injuring a 9-year-old girl, was slain in a fortuitous encounter with a small squad of police, he added.

“Neutralizing Adil Parray is a matter of triumph for the police,” the senior police officer said, adding, “100 terrorists have been slain in J-K so far this year.”
