‘India needs to be self-reliant in Defence procurement’

There have been major changes in the Defence procurement process which were unimaginable a few years ago. For the Armed Forces maintaining a huge range of items, getting spares at proper time and right price which can perform to its stringent quality standards are some of the biggest challenges it has been facing.

“India needs to be self-reliant in Defence procurement to overcome these problems,” said the chief guest Lt Gen S K Upadhya, AVSM, SM, VSM, MGO, Indian Army while speaking at the ‘Make in India Summit and Buyer Seller Meet’ organised by Vidarbha Defence Industries Association (VDIA) at Hotel Centre Point, Ramdaspeth on Thursday.
