India Not To Sent Troops On Afghan Soil, Asks Us To Take Up Issue Of Safe Heaven With Pak

New Delhi : India today did some plane talking when US defence secretary met his counterpart Nirmala Sitharaman at the South Block here.

The Defence Minister made it clear to the visiting Dignitary, the first high level engagement from the Trump Administration, that There shall be no Indian boots on ground in Afghanistan. Though New Delhi would continue to contribute in a big in reconstruction work of the war torn nation with Medical assistance, schools, education and other key areas.

Ms Sitharaman asked the US defence secretary to forcefully take op the issue of sanctuaries for terrorists when he visits Islamabad.

Very same forces that find safe haven in Pakistan have hit both Mumbai and New York, she said, addressing a joint media briefing with Mr Mattis after the hour long talks.

“My request is that when the Secretary visits Pakistan he should take up issue of terror safe havens,” she said.
On question of Indian boots on the ground in Afghanistan, she said India has been consistent on developmental work.
