On July 10, the Indian Navy announced that the fourth stage of the indigenous aircraft carrier’s sea trials had been successfully completed. The majority of the ship’s systems and equipment, including those in the Aviation Facilities Complex, were tested during the drill.
The second P17A stealth frigate built by warship maker Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) will be launched by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on July 15 in order to improve the maritime capabilities of the Indian Navy, a senior official stated on July 9.
Before being sent to the Indian Navy for commissioning into service, the cutting-edge warship will be fitted with the most latest technology and put through rigorous testing by GRSE, which was contracted to build three stealth frigates as part of Project 17A.

The ship will be launched on July 15 at the GRSE Main Complex, which is located on this side of the Hooghly River, the GRSE official informed the press.
As construction on the warship nears completion, painting is being done. The first P17A frigate built by GRSE was launched in December 2020 by Madhulika Rawat, the wife of General Bipin Rawat, the then-chief of the defence staff.
A P17A ship is a guided-missile frigate that is 149 metres long, weighs around 6,670 tonnes, and cruises at a speed of 28 knots, according to the official.
The Navy ordered seven stealth frigates, four of which were delivered to Mazagon Dock Ltd (MDL) and three to GRSE.
The contract for the three stealth frigates under Project 17A, valued at 19,294 crore, is the highest order GRSE has ever gotten, according to the official. He claims that the defence PSU with headquarters in Kolkata now has an order book worth almost $24,000 crore.
The official pointed out that although GRSE also works on other manufacturing projects, such as constructing Bailey bridges and a diesel engine plant in Ranchi, shipbuilding generates about 95% of the company’s income.
According to him, the business is currently engaged in six projects that involve the construction of 23 ships, including one passenger ship for Guyana and six patrol vessels for Bangladesh.
