INS Tarangini, The First Sailtrainingship of Indian Navy Deployed as Part of Lokayan 22 Made A Port Call at Porto, Portugal

INS Tarangini, the first Sail Training Ship of Indian Navy deployed as part of Lokayan 22 made a port call at Porto, Portugal on 26 August 2022. A warm welcome was accorded to the ship by the Portuguese Navy. The ship was visited by officers of the Portuguese Navy who were briefed about the ship’s role and sail training aspects. As part of friendly sports fixtures, a football match was organised between Tarangini and Northern Maritime Zone Command teams. The ship will remain open to visitors during her stay at Porto. 25 sea trainees from India and two officer cadets from British Royal Naval College are presently embarked onboard the ship for sail training. Professional interactions and visit to Portuguese Naval ships and installations are planned during the port call to enhance interoperability and to understand each other best-operating practices.
