On Friday, PM Modi put the INS Vikrant into service at the Cochin Shipyard. It is the first aircraft carrier built in India. The Prime Minister said that he gave the INS Vikrant to Chhatrapathi Shivaji.
“When Bharat decides, no goal is impossible to reach, no matter how hard the goal is or how big the challenges are,” said PM Modi.
At a cost of Rs 20,000 crore, the INS Vikrant is the biggest ship India has ever built.
PM Modi told the public, “INS Vikrant is an example of how the government is trying to make India’s defence industry self-sufficient. With the Vikrant, India joins a small group of countries that can make aircraft carriers on their own.

He also said that the INS Vikrant is a floating airport, a floating city, and a power plant that can light up 5,000 homes.
“The INS Vikrant is not just a warship; it is also a sign of India’s skill and ability. It is special and different,” Modi said, pointing out that the huge ship was made with steel made in India.
The launch of the INS Vikrant is a big step for the Narendra Modi government’s goal of being self-sufficient, especially in strategic areas.
The Indian Navy said in a statement that the commissioning is a “historical milestone of the nation’s commitment to AatmaNirbharta coming true.”
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also showed off the new flag for the Indian Navy.
He said that until now, the Indian Naval flags had a symbol of slavery on them. That symbol has been changed to one that was inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
INS Vikrant – Made in India
The Indian Aircraft Carrier (IAC-1) is the first aircraft carrier that was thought up and built by Indians. Vikrant was designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau (WDB) and built by the Cochin Shipyard, a public sector shipyard. It has state-of-the-art automation features and is the biggest ship India has ever built. It is the biggest warship India has ever built. It has a lot of equipment and machinery made in India, which was done by over 100 MSMEs as well as the country’s biggest companies.
After it is put into service, the IAC-1 will be given the name INS Vikrant to honour India’s first aircraft carrier, which also had that name. The famous ship that came before it was India’s first aircraft carrier, which was a key part of the 1971 war.
