Jammu And Kashmir: In Shopian District, Security Forces Kill 3 LeT Terrorists

On Tuesday, three terrorists were killed by security forces in the Shopian district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The fight happened early on Tuesday morning, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police say the terrorists involved are from the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba.

A police official said that security forces had set up a cordon and search operation at Munjh Marg in the Zainapora neighbourhood of Shopian after hearing that militants were there. He said that the search turned into a meeting later on.

On December 7, militants and security forces also had a fight in Shopian district. After hearing that militants were in the Watho area of Shopian, security forces set up a cordon and started searching the area. During the operation, the militants who had been hiding started shooting at the security forces. No one was hurt, as far as we know.

In a case related to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Jammu and Kashmir Police recently filed a chargesheet against a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist.

Police in Budgam say that the Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist was caught in the Chadoora area of the district on January 20, 2022, with weapons and ammunition, including a pistol.

The terrorist who was caught was named Jahangir Ahmad Naikoo. He lived in Shopian’s Memander Village.

During the investigation, it was found that the terrorist who was arrested had broken Sections 20, 23, and 38 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

“The police brought the charge sheet against the terrorist in question before the court after getting permission from the right authority,” said the police.

The terrorist in question is being held in Central Jail Srinagar at the moment.

The police have found two of the three terrorists, but they still need to find the third one.

“Of the two local terrorists who were killed, two have been identified as Lateef Lone of the Shopian district, who was involved in the killing of a Kashmiri man named Pandit Purana Krishna Bhat, and Umer Nazir of the Anantnag district, who was involved in the killing of a Nepalese man named Till Bahadur Thapa,” said the Additional Director General of Kashmir Police.
