J&K: Indian Army Says ‘Terrorists Were Well Prepared’ After Foiling Major Infiltration Bid

- The Indian army conducted a search operation and found the bodies of three terrorists as well as two AK-47s, one Chinese M-16 weapon, and other military supplies.
- The security forces also found the bodies of two terrorists from Pakistan who died during an attempted incursion after stepping on a minefield and setting off a number of explosives.
On August 25, the Indian army stopped yet another significant attempt by Pakistani terrorists to infiltrate Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) by killing three terrorists and retrieving a sizable amount of war-like supplies from Uri Sector’s forwarding regions. On the basis of specific information gathered by intelligence agencies, an operation was reportedly initiated in the Uri sector area close to the LoC, according to Indian army authorities. As a result, on August 24, numerous ambushes were set up to catch the spies.
“Intensive electronic surveillance of the suspected area led to the detection of the attempt at 07:00 AM on 25th August,” PRO (Defence) Srinagar said in a statement.

“On August 25, at around 08.45 AM, in the forward regions on the Indian side of the LoC, contact with terrorists was made. This led to a frenzied firefight in which the terrorists were killed. At 2:00 PM, a thorough search of the area was completed “stated the PRO (defence). Following the intense firing, the Indian army conducted a search operation and found the bodies of three terrorists as well as two AK-47s, one Chinese M-16 weapon, and other military supplies.
“Army’s successful operation has not only led to the elimination of three Pakistani terrorists but also has resulted in thwarting Pakistan’s nefarious design and intent to disrupt peace, prosperity and normalcy in J&K,” the statement further read.
It is important to note that the Indian Army’s operations against Pakistan-sponsored terror in J&K continue to rely heavily on electronic monitoring and intelligence-based operations.
Indian Army foils multiple infiltration bids along LOC
Notably, this week’s security operations prevented four attempts at infiltration at India’s border regions. In the previous 72 hours, the forces thwarted three terrorist infiltration attempts, the most recent of which occurred along the LOC in the Pallanwala region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor sector.
Prior to this, on Tuesday morning, the security forces also found the bodies of two terrorists from Pakistan who died during an attempted incursion after stepping on a minefield and setting off a number of explosives.
On the morning of August 21, another incident occurred when Indian forces stationed in Jhangar, J&K’s Nowshera, noticed the movement of two to three terrorists along the LOC who were attempting to cut the fence and cross the border. However, they were wounded when the forces opened fire.
