Jammu and Kashmir Police today arrested a top militant of Hizbul Mujahideen in Kishtwar district. Police have alleged that Aiyaz Ahmad Wani was directly in touch with Pakistan-based terrorists.
Police have charged Aiyaz Ahmad Wani with motivating local youth into joining the militancy by offering cash.
The arrested militant is the son of Abdul Ahad Wani, a resident of Beli village in Doda district. Aiyaz Ahmad Wani lives in Machian, Doda. He was also the Doda district president of Hurriyat Conference.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Rajinder Gupta told the newspaper Rising Kashmir that police teams conducted raids at various places in the district after learning that Aiyaz Ahmad Wani was camping in Kishtwar town. Read more
