Lashkar Drone Module: NIA Captures A Suspect, Raids Are Taking Place In J-K’s Poonch

- The case was re-registered by the NIA on July 30, 2022, after being originally registered in PS Rajbagh, Kathua, as FIR no. 114/2022, dated May 29, 2022.
Friday saw a raid by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) at one place in the Poonch border district. The searches were related to a drone dropping module operated by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) that was delivering explosives and weapons to Indian Territory from across the border. One suspect, Mohammad Zaman, has been apprehended by the NIA, and two of his cellphones have been seized. At Sawjian Police Station in Poonch, the person who has been detained is being questioned.
Official on the condition of anonymity said, “Raid is being conducted in the case related to interception of a drone used for delivery of consignments of arms/ammunition/explosives by a key module of TRF, an offshoot of LeT, which was working at the behest of Pakistani handlers”.
“TRF operatives were in constant touch with Pakistani handlers of LeT and were receiving consignments of arms/ammunition/explosives and other terrorist hardware via drones in Indian territory near IB in the Samba Sector.”
In order to carry out terrorist attacks against minorities, immigrants, and security personnel, these weapon consignments were also given to TRF terrorists in Kashmir. The case was re-registered by the NIA on July 30, 2022, after being originally registered in PS Rajbagh, Kathua, as FIR no. 114/2022, dated May 29, 2022.
