“Make In India” Campaign Helps The Drone Industry In Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh’s plan to use drones for farming is a big boost for the country’s new drone industry, which is part of the Make in India initiative. The drones will be used to spray pesticides, fertilisers, and other farm supplies on the land that is being farmed.

With almost 17 million hectares of land under cultivation, Uttar Pradesh is one of the top agricultural and horticultural producers in the world. This means that there is a huge market for local drone units, service providers, and related industries.

Reports say that by 2026, India’s drone business will bring in between Rs 12,000 and Rs 15,000 crore.

The government has said that it wants to set up a Centre of Excellence for drones at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kanpur. This will help research and make it easier for drone units to be set up in the state.

Surya Pratap Shahi, who is the Agriculture Minister of UP, said that the state was committed to bringing modern technology into the farm sector so that farms would do well and rural income would go up.

“Using drones will not only save farmers time, money, and work, but it will also help them get a better and higher crop yield by using fertilisers and soil nutrients in a smart and cost-effective way,” he said, adding that the Centre would give 32 drones for agricultural research. Also, the UP government will show farmers on the field how to use drones and teach them how to do so.

The government has said that drones will get a subsidy. The Centre has been loosening policy rules over and over again to help the domestic drone industry. Drones, also called unmanned aerial vehicles, are a major change in technology, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to make India a hub for drones by 2030.

Taking this as a sign, the government of Yogi Adityanath is putting a lot of effort into setting up defence and aerial technology units, such as drones, in the UP Defense Manufacturing Corridor, which includes Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Chidrakoot, Aligarh, and Agra.

Milind Raj, who makes drones, the domestic drone industry was set for high growth because the government was helping it and people liked the new technology.

Drones are being used more and more by the police and other government departments and agencies, as well as by private companies to take pictures or keep an eye on things.
