Northern Army Commander Assesses The Security Situation In Kashmir

Lt General Upendra Dwivedi, the Northern Army Commander, reviewed the security situation in Kashmir valley on Sunday. He arrived in Srinagar for a one-day visit to Kashmir.

The Army Commander, accompanied by the GOC Chinar Corps, visited the Northern Route of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra to assess the situation and review the yatra’s progress along the Nilagrar – Baltal – Domel – Brarimarg – Sangam – Holy Cave route. On July 8, a natural disaster in the form of a cloudburst occurred near Holy Cave, claiming many valuable lives.

Teams from the Indian Army, JKP, NDRF, SDRF, ITBP, BSF, CRPF, SASB, and other government agencies worked 24 hours a day, seven days a week to rescue and assist the affected Yatris.

The Army Commander interacted with all ranks performing selfless service and presented Commendation Cards to security personnel from the various agencies deployed in recognition.
At Nilgrar, the Army Commander also met with participants of the Kargil Vijay Diwas Motorcycle Expedition (Sonamarg).
