NSG, CRPF, BSF To Get Brand New Mine-Protected Vehicles, Bullet Proof Jackets As Centre Clears Rs 624 Crore


In a bid to ensure the safe movement of troops in naxal infested areas and insurgency hit Jammu & Kashmir, the government will soon provide mine-protected vehicles (MPVs) to the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), reports Business Today.

In the meantime, the National Security Guard (NSG), the elite anti terror force, will be equipped with remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to add more stealth during operations. Rs 17 crore has been sanctioned to the force to purchase seven such vehicles.

To go for the purchase of additional mine-protected vehicles, bullet proof jackets, ambulance, etc. an expenditure sanction of Rs 624 crore has been issued to the CAPFs such as CRPF and BSF.

One such vehicle can accommodate six personnel, protecting them from improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Naxal hit areas and in parts of the Kashmir Valley. Read More
