PAC Slams Defence Ministry For Huge Revenue Loss Over Land

Slamming the defence ministry (MoD) for continuing gross mismanagement of its land and revenue losses amounting to hundreds of crores, the parliamentary public accounts committee (PAC) has called for strict action against erring officials and a comprehensive land survey every 10 years to guard against irregularities.

MoD is India’s largest landowner, with 17.6 lakh acres under its control. In its report tabled in Parliament, the PAC castigated MoD for making no effort to streamline the management of defence lands despite the CAG repeatedly flagging lapses. Read More
