Pakistan airspace closure: Air Canada suspends Delhi-Toronto direct from June 14 to August 1


Reduced flight options — leading to higher fares — stare at people travelling between Delhi and the east coast of North America this summer. Air Canada will not operate its daily Delhi-Toronto flight between June 14 and August 1 due to continued closure of Pakistan airspace. Therefore, airlines operating on this route will have to take a longer route. Air Canada’s decision comes even as United’s Delhi-Newark flight remains suspended for the same reason since early April and is expected to resume on July 2, as of now. 

Only three airlines have direct flights between Delhi and east coast of America — Air India, United and Air Canada. All of them were forced to take one-stop after Pakistan closed its airspace for overflying on February 27. For a significant part of this summer — which also happens to be a peak travel month — AI will be the only one to continue on Delhi-east coast (New York) route.  Read More
