Pakistan Under Intense Pressure From USA-china To Recast Its Terror Infested Foreign Policy


Before Pakistan could reconcile after being warned by America for providing safe havens to terrorists, the joint declaration of the China-hosted BRICS Summit (September 4, 2017) too condemned Pakistan-based terrorist groups like Taliban, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed(JeM), which has left Pakistan’s foreign policy makers dejected.
Consequently, Pakistan declared that its existing foreign policy is redundant, which needs to be re-framed objectively. Pakistan army, known to be an ardent supporter of Kashmiri militants, also changed its tone and tenor and advocated for resolving the Kashmir issue through dialogue.
Following President Trump’s serving notice to Pakistan on harbouring terrorists and providing them safe havens, Pakistan’s civil and military leadership made tall claims of having made sacrifices to counter and contain terrorism. But pressure from China-led BRICS countries which compared Pakistan-based and supported terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Taliban, and Haqqani group, with other global terror groups such as Islamic State and Al-Qaeda have made Pakistan nervous.
