Point of presence: Royal Navy reinforces UK Indian Ocean profile


First, within the government’s ‘Global Britain’ strategy, the UK is looking to generate greater presence and influence across the Indo-Pacific region and especially in the Far East. To support this requirement, the government announced in 2018 that a Royal Navy (RN) Type 23 frigate would be forward deployed to Bahrain. HMS Montrose , the first ship to support this tasking, arrived in Bahrain on 11 April 2019 on a planned three-year deployment. Read more
