The BSF handed seeds and agricultural equipment to farmers in Keran village along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday as part of the country’s 75th anniversary celebrations.
According to a senior officer, Raja Babu Singh, the inspector general (IG) of the border force in Kashmir, visited the village as part of a day-long tour of the area with agriculture department officials.
As part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations, Singh mingled with the villagers and presided over an event when seeds and agricultural equipment were presented to the area’s farmers, he said.
In his talk to the locals, IG Singh referred to them as the “first line of defence and frontier sentinels.”
He said that the border security force (BSF) is concerned about the people living on the border and is working to win their hearts and minds.
Keran village is located on the banks of the Kishanganga river, and the bowl has approximately 18 settlements.
