Srinagar: Home Minister Rajnath Singh today held a high level meeting with top brass of the Border Security Force (BSF), which is manning the international Border, where ceasefire violations are being witnessed almost on daily basis.
Mr Rajnath Singh visited the BSF Campus at Naushera and took stock of operational preparedness on the Line of Control and International Boundary in prevailing security scenario. He was received at the Naushera Campus by Kamal Nayan Chaubey, ADG BSF WESTERN COMMAND and Ram Awatar IG BSF Jammu Frontier.
The Home Minister was accompanied with Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmirr. Nirmal Kumar Singh along with Home Secretary. Rajiv Gauba.
Top officials of the BSF briefed him on the prevailing security scenario, various measures undertaken by BSF to strengthen the border protection on International Border and the existing border control and protection mechanism undertaken by the force.
The Home Minister also addressed a Prahari Sammellan where he expressed his utmost satisfaction on the preparedness of the force.
The minister expressed his gratitude towards BSF troops who are doing venerable border guarding and management under adverse conditions. Addressing the gathering he applauded that excellent border management by BSF has helped in inculcating the belief among general public that they are safe as one of the best border guarding force in the world, Border Security Force is guarding them from external threats.
He praised the bordermen who exhibited combat audacity and fought valiantly in the service to the nation due to which BSF has earned the name as “First Wall of Indian Defence”.
The Home Minister appraised the jawans that safety and security of our soldiers performing duties in complex circumstances is the prime concerns of Government and particularly Ministry of Home Affairs. Getting best surveillance equipments under modernisation programme is one of the priorities for the government. He also informed to the gathering about the latest technology gadgets and equipment are being inducted in BSF which besides acting as force multiplier for better and more effective domination of border will also provide relief to jawans by reducing their work load.
Mr Singh also had an informal interaction with jawans to know about their well being. During the interaction, he was very appreciative of the ever vigilant Seema Praharies who guards the nation’s border 24x7x365 defying the extreme weather conditions.
