Shopian Blast: According To The Army, One In Three Injured Soldiers Is Serious

One of the three troops injured in a blast inside a private vehicle hired by the soldiers in the Sedaw district of Shopian on Thursday was in critical condition, according to the Army.

“At approximately 0300 a.m., an operation was launched from (Sedaw) to lay cordon and search in general region Patitohalan, based on particular intelligence,” an Army official told the news agency GNS.

“An explosion occurred in the civil hired vehicle being used by the team while moving to the target area, approximately a km from (Sedaw), resulting in injuries to three Indian Army soldiers,” he said, adding that the blast is “very likely to be from either an IED or a grenade or a battery malfunctioning in the vehicle.” Details are being worked out.”

According to the army, the injured men were immediately transferred and given first aid at District Hospital, Shopian, before being evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar.

“Affected area has been closed off and all potential escape routes have been shut,” it stated, adding that “one soldier is critical while two other injured are stable.”
