SPG Sends Team Of Senior Officers To Probe Midnapore Tent Collapse


A day after a tent collapsed during PM Narendra Modi’s rally in Midnapore injuring over 90 people, the Special Protection Group (SPG) has sent a team of top security officials to West Bengal to assess the incident.

The team includes a top official from the cabinet secretariat and two senior SPG officials. They will assess if there was a lapse in the security during PM Modi’s rally. A senior official from the home ministry said that they will also take into account whether there was lack of coordination among different agencies or any other shortcomings in the arrangements of the rally.

A former SPG officer said that for every rally multiple agencies, including the district administration, police and intelligence officials, work together to ensure the prime minister’s security. Read More
