Taiwan reports new large-scale Chinese air force incursion

Taiwan reported China’s biggest air defense raid since October on Sunday, with the island’s Defense Ministry saying Taiwanese fighters were quick to warn 39 planes in the latest rise in tensions over air defense.
Taiwan, which China claims as its territory, has complained for more than a year of repeated Chinese air missions near the democratically-ruled island, often in the southwestern part of its Air Defense Identification Zone, or ADIZ. , near the Taiwan-controlled Pratas Islands.
Taiwan calls repeated military activities near China a “grey area,” designed both to wear down Taiwanese forces by repeatedly jamming them and to test Taiwan’s responses.
