The Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) anti-missile system, which the United States had deployed last week in South Korea, is ‘operational’.
According to US Forces Korea (USFK) spokesperson Rob Manning, THAAD system is operational and has the ability to intercept missiles from North Korea and ‘defend’ the South.
South Korean Defence Ministry spokesman Moon Sang-gyun also confirmed that the contentious anti-missile system was operational and it has ‘early capability’ to respond to North Korea’s nuclear and missile threat.
