Two Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter with security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore district, authorities said on Thursday.An altercation erupted in the Bomai district of Sopore town on Wednesday night after security officers conducted a cordon-and-search operation, according to a police official.

He claimed that during the operation, security forces shot and killed two terrorists. During the exchange of fire, a civilian was also injured.

A top police officer stated the terrorists were linked to the banned terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed and were plotting strikes on civilians.

“Mohd Rafi of Sopore and Kaiser Ashraf of Pulwama were identified as killed JeM militants. Terrorist Rafi has previously been arrested twice under the PSA. Both were involved in a number of terror-related crimes.
