Wife Of Officer Who Laid Down Life Fighting Terrorists Set To Join Army Tomorrow

Less than two years after her husband Colonel Santosh Mahadik was killed while fighting terrorists in Kupwara, Swati Mahadik is seet to the Army where her husband used to serve the country.

Swati was selected by the Services Selection Board (SSB) nine months after her husband attained martyrdom in troubled Jammu and Kashmir. The incident changed her professional life for ever.

Swati joined the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai in October last year as part of the SSCW (Non-tech) course for 11 months’ training. She would be joining the Army as a lieutenant.

It was an emotional moment for Swati to decided to wear the olive green uniform of her husband Colonel Mahadik, who was proud of serving the nation.

Swati graduated from Savitribhai Phule Pune University before specialising in autism.
