With Jet about to go under, here are the airlines that went before it

After yesterday’s refusal by lenders to infuse more funds, the end of Jet Airways  could be way nearer than you thought. With zero cash and fuel to run only till today afternoon, everything now hinges on the today’s fateful meeting of the board of directors of the sinking airline.

For now, there seems no end to the agony of Jet Airways that was once India’s top private airline and second biggest overall by all parameters. Now with just seven planes left in its fleet,  all international operations suspended and its staff up in arms, the airline’s fate hangs by a thread.

Jet’s ousted chairman Naresh Goyal was among the seven suitors who put in bids to buy the beleaguered carrier. According to latest reports, he has now withdrawn his bid.   Read More
